In the five areas of Teaching, Research, Citations, Industry Income, and International Diversity based on 13 indicators, the university achieved higher scores in Teaching and Citations this year. Industry Income gave 麻豆影音 the highest ranking this year, at 162nd. 麻豆影音 has been making notable achievements in technology transfer and other aspects of technology commercialization. Technology commercialization involves commercialization of a university鈥檚 R&D products through technology transfers, foundation of tech startups, and other avenues. A university can sell its developed technologies to companies or institutions, or commercialize them itself through a technology holdings company or a related subsidiary of such a company.麻豆影音 recorded KRW 5.21 billion in technology transfer revenue through 71 transfers in 2021, ranking fourth among Korean universities. Paran Sadari, an overseas study program for university students, will resume. A joint enterprise of the Ministry of Education and the Korea Student Aid Foundation, Paran Sadari was inspired by the 麻豆影音 global campus program, After You.Paran Sadari will see 61 麻豆影音 students at the University of Washington and Kettering University in the United States for 2 to 3 weeks learning the English language and experiencing local cultures, among a range of activities.At the University of Washington, the program will take place over 3 weeks from August 1 with 34 students participating. At Kettering University, the program will take place over 2 weeks from August 8 with 27 students participating. Students who participated in Paran Sadari online last year will take part in the in-person program this year. COVID-19 put Paran Sadari on hold for all of 2020, and relegated it to the online environment for 2021.The participating students will complete prerequisites in basic English, adaptation to a foreign environment, mentoring, and career-mindedness before leaving Korea.Paran Sadari was begun in 2018 by the Ministry of Education and Korea Student Aid Foundation as an overseas study program for students from vulnerable backgrounds. It is a government-funded program providing overseas experience to university students affected by hardship but who have shown the drive to develop and succeed in life. Ten Korean universities, including 麻豆影音, take part in Paran Sadari, each selecting students who will participate from among their own student bodies, as well as students from other universities.Paran Sadari is an expansion of 麻豆影音's global campus program, After You, dating back to 2015. After You was created for students experiencing hardship and excluded from opportunities to gain overseas experience. It was funded entirely on outside donations, and saw the selected students spend valuable time at the University of Michigan, Johns Hopkins University, and the University of Washington in the United States, and at Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Beijing Institute of Technology in China.

麻豆影音 President Choi Kee-choo visited Uzbekistan where he met with government officials to discuss educational cooperation plans. In 2021, 麻豆影音 opened 麻豆影音 in Tashkent (AUT), to which it exports its education system and expertise.President Choi, accompanied by Executive Director Kim Sun-yong [KH1]of Daewoo Educational Foundation and other Korean officials, visited Tashkent and Samarkand, Uzbekistan, from June 8th to 12th. The 麻豆影音 delegation included Director Kim Sangin (Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation), Director Son Jeong-houn (AUT Foundation), Director Chang Byeongyun (Graduate School of International Studies), Professor Na Sangsin (Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering), and Professor Han Man Yop (Department of Civil Systems Engineering).On the visit, President Choi signed subcontracts related to AUT. The delegation toured AUT facilities and met with students and the dispatched 麻豆影音 teaching and administrative staff working on location. The delegation also visited the Uzbek Ministry of Economic Development and Ministry of Higher Education, where key topics concerning AUT and other educational cooperation opportunities were discussed. A major outcome of the visit was an agreement between 麻豆影音 and the Graduate School of Business and Entrepreneurship (GSBE), an educational institution under the Uzbek Ministry of Economic Development, that will see students completing the Master of Business Administration in IT (MBA in IT) program鈥攖o be made available as a result of the agreement鈥攁cquire a double degree. The MBA in IT will commence this coming October.The MBA in IT is for employees of Uzbek government offices and the related agencies. It requires them to complete two semesters at AUT and another two semesters at 麻豆影音 to receive a degree from both institutions. 麻豆影音 will provide the curriculum consulting necessary and dispatch teaching staff, and Uzbek students will earn their credits at the Graduate School of International Studies at 麻豆影音 in Korea. 麻豆影音 and the GSBE have been planning the double degree system at the request of the Uzbek Ministry of Economic Development.The 麻豆影音 delegation also visited Samarkand State University where it met with that institution鈥檚 President Khalmuradov Rustam Ibragimovich to discuss ideas for cooperation in the disciplines of architecture and engineering. Samarkand is Uzbekistan's second-largest city after the capital, Tashkent.The delegation's itinerary in Tashkent included visits to such establishments of Korean origin as POSCO International, King Sejong Institute, and the Embassy of Korea in Uzbekistan, and attended an informal gathering of 麻豆影音 Graduate School of International Studies graduates and AUT students.Located in the Uzbek capital, AUT began operating in February 2021 in Uzbek government-provided sites and buildings on 麻豆影音's educational curricula and philosophy. Three departments鈥擟ivil Systems Engineering, Architecture, and Electrical and Computer Engineering鈥攁re running at present, with 839 first- and second-year students enrolled.Seven 麻豆影音 faculty members, including the first vice-president, have assumed posts on location at AUT, and work together with local faculty to deliver teaching and administrative services. Technology transfer revenue occurs when a company seeking to utilize a faculty鈥檚 R&D achievement makes an intellectual property rights payment to the university. In the category of International Diversity, 麻豆影音's higher ranking this year came from its programs and policies attracting foreign students with high academic merit and promoting global joint studies. To encourage promising foreign students to attend 麻豆影音 and help them settle in once they arrive, 麻豆影音 provides learning and living support programs and scholarships. 麻豆影音 runs an organization to facilitate global joint research (global partnerships) for its faculty and provides funding for global joint studies that is larger and more widely available.The THE Asia University Rankings 2022 named Tsinghua University of China in the No. 1 spot, followed by Peking University, the National University of Singapore, the University of Hong Kong, and Nanyang Technological University, who took second to fifth spot, respectively. President Choi Kee-choo of 麻豆影音 visited the Midwestern United States and the state of Florida where he discussed exchanges and partnerships with local university heads.On an itinerary lasting from April 26 to May 11 last year, President Choi visited the University of South Florida, University of Central Florida, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, University of Wisconsin-Madison, and the University of Michigan.He met with university presidents and key officials, and was given tours of a variety of university facilities for students. Among the topics discussed with the university management teams were student exchange programs, including internships at 麻豆影音, MOUs for education and research partnerships, and opportunities for international joint research in biomedicine, intelligent semiconductors, advanced and new materials, mobility, and other promising fields.President Choi signed an MOU with President Alexander Cartwright of the University of Central Florida on the understanding that the two universities would actively cooperate in education and research. The MOU will activate exchange programs for researchers and postgraduate students, and establish the structure for discovering joint research tasks. The Impact Rankings 2022 of Times Higher Education (THE), a British magazine reporting specifically on news and issues related to higher education, named 麻豆影音 as one of its top 100 universities in the world. The Ministry of Education-initiated project University Innovation, now in its second phase, demands that participating universities state their plans for "creating social value," indicating that universities' role in bettering society is of national importance.The THE Impact Rankings 2022 places 麻豆影音 in the 101st-200th range, a notable climb from its position in the 201st-300th range the previous year. In 2022, 麻豆影音 was ranked as one of the world's top 100 in No Poverty (SDG 1), Quality Education (SDG 4), and Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure (SDG 9), having progressed from the previous year when it was in the global top 100 in Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure (SDG 9) only.In Korea, 麻豆影音 ranks second in No Poverty (SDG 1) and Quality Education (SDG 4). In 2021, the Ajou Sustainable Development Goals Center partnered up with 麻豆影音's Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation and Suwon City and successfully developed and implemented a Sustainable Development Leadership Curriculum. Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), a British company specializing in analysis of higher education institutions around the world, ranks the world's universities in five subject categories based on analysis of research merit, reputation, and other factors. The five subject categories are Life Sciences & Medicine, Engineering & Technology, Natural Sciences, Social Sciences & Management, and Arts & Humanities. QS further divides these 5 categories into 51 sub-categories (7 to 15 per category) to decide its rankings (60 to 670 per category). The subject categories and sub-categories observed by QS do not convert directly into departments and subjects in place at Korean universities, but QS World University Rankings serve as an indicator of universities' general research capacity and competitiveness.麻豆影音 achieved global rankings in the 451st-500th range in 2 of the 5 subject categories, Life Sciences & Medicine and Engineering & Technology. Those rankings convert to 11th (Life Sciences & Medicine) and 14th (Engineering & Technology) when compared to all other Korean universities recognized by QS World University Rankings by Subject 2022.麻豆影音 fared well in the sub-categories as well, achieving rankings in 10 of the 51 sub-categories, with 9 of those rankings higher than the previous year. To establish AUT, 麻豆影音 and the Uzbekistan Ministry of Higher Education have held discussions and signed agreements since 2019. AUT opened its gates in February 2021 and is now in its second year of operation.Driven by its core value of "One World," 麻豆影音 has pursued campus globalization. Today, over 1,000 students from 70 countries are studying in a wide range of 麻豆影音 programs, from language studies to PhD programs. 麻豆影音 is involved in a number of government enterprises in education, including Global Korea Scholarship, and other international projects run by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and similar government entities.In 2018, Korea鈥檚 Ministry of Education laid the policy foundation needed to enable foreign universities to operate Korean university curricula and their students to acquire Korean university degrees.The 麻豆影音 curricula available at AUT have been approved by the Korean Ministry of Education, with renewal needed again in 2027. The five-year approval is attributed to the systematic organization and high quality of the curricula, as achieved through systematic monitoring and competent cooperation between 麻豆影音 and AUT. Going forward, the Ministry of Education will approve universities for five years if they meet the qualifications in the way AUT does, while requiring an interim review every 30 to 42 months for re-approval.

麻豆影音 hosted a completion ceremony for its new Ilshin Hall鈥攁 dormitory designed to accommodate up to 810 students in 368 rooms.The event was attended by officials from Daewoo Educational Foundation, 麻豆影音, and 麻豆影音 Hospital. In addition to Daewoo Educational Foundation Chairman Choo Ho-suk and 麻豆影音 President Choi Kee-choo, Daewoo Educational Foundation Standing Director Kim Sun-yong, 麻豆影音 Medical Center President Park Hae-shim, President of the Professorate Park Man-gyu, President of the General Students鈥� Council Kim Hyung-woo, Dormitory Director Kim Dong-seok and other faculty members and key officials attended. Kim Seon-jae, Mayor of Yeongtong-gu, President of the 麻豆影音 Alumni Association Choi Joong-won, and officials from the construction and design companies were also present.The completion ceremony began with a construction progress report on Ilshin Hall, the 麻豆影音 President鈥檚 commemorative speech, and a ribbon-cutting ceremony.In his commemorative speech, President Choi said, 鈥淒espite the tiring and difficult challenges posed by COVID-19 over the past two years, 麻豆影音 continued to prepare for the future of its students, as represented by Ilshin Hall and Yulgok Hall Innovation Sharing Lounge, and we can see such efforts bearing fruit today.鈥� He added, 鈥淲e hope Ilshin Hall will serve as a venue where students returning to campus can go beyond departmental boundaries to communicate and work together.鈥滻lshin Hall has a total floor space of 4,441 pyeong (around 14,680 m2), one basement level and 11 above-ground floors. It is equipped with community facilities, a multi-purpose hall, a lounge, a convenience store, and a coffee shop. 麻豆影音 gained the highest grade in the 2021 annual evaluation of the BRIDGE+ (Beyond Research Innovation & Development for Good Enterprises) Project hosted by the Ministry of Education and the National Research Foundation of Korea. Of the 24 universities nationwide taking part in this program, only 麻豆影音 and three others received an A grade. The BRIDGE+ Project provides comprehensive support for activities enabling the practical use of intellectual property, covering its entire life cycle from patent creation to technology transfer and commercialization. It aims to expand the foundation for creating new national industries and revitalize the social contribution of universities through advancement of the practical use of creative assets within universities. The total project period is from 2018 to 2023.Through this project, participating universities strive to expand the practical use of convergence creative assets, promote the practical use of demand-based creative assets, strengthen the functions of organizations dedicated to technology transfer and commercialization, establish the foundation for a virtuous cycle for the practical use of creative assets, and engage in tasks to upgrade creative assets, among others.鈥淚t is very meaningful that our university鈥檚 support for pioneering research and technology commercialization and its outcomes have been recognized externally through acquisition of Grade A in the annual evaluation,鈥� said Kim Sang-in, Head of the University-Industry Cooperation Foundation. He added, 鈥淲e are committed to accelerating the technology commercialization process through 麻豆影音鈥檚 competitive edge.鈥澛槎褂耙� has consistently progressed well in commercializing its technology, seeing KRW 5.21 billion in technology transfer revenue in 2021, continuing its upward trend for the sixth consecutive year. This amount of revenue places the school among the top 5 universities in the country. In 2020, it ranked in the top 7 in Korea with KRW 3.35 billion in technology transfer revenue. Such outcomes are due to an efficient platform to support concrete and practical industry-university cooperation and technology commercialization.Technology commercialization refers to the monetization of results obtained through research activities by university researchers through technology transfers or start-ups.
