On February 15th, the graduation ceremony of the first batch of students to earn a dual degree from 鶹Ӱ and the Graduate School of Business and Entrepreneurship (GSBE) in Uzbekistan took place. Present at the ceremony were the Uzbek graduates and officials from the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Korea, and members of 鶹Ӱ, including President Choi Kee-choo and Dean Chang Byeong-Yun of the Graduate School of International Studies. The graduation ceremony opened with an address by President Choi Kee-choo, followed by addresses by Dean Chang Byeong-Yun and Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Korea Fakhriddin Nabiev, and the conferment of degrees and awards, and ended with a presentation by the student president. 鶹Ӱ entered into a partnership on operation of a dual degree program with the GSBE, an education institution operating under the Uzbek Ministry of Economy and Finance, in 2022. The Uzbek Ministry of Economy and Finance was the catalyst for the partnership when it requested collaboration in developing Uzbek IT business experts. Uzbek students who undertake the dual degree program are selected each year by the GSBE, where they complete Semester 1 and 2 of the program, followed by Semester 3 and 4 at the Graduate School of International Studies at 鶹Ӱ. The program runs for 18 months, during which the students study at the Graduate School of International Studies at 鶹Ӱ for majors in global business and IT business. Graduates of the program are awarded a dual degree from 鶹Ӱ and the GSBE. The first group of graduates was made up of Uzbek public and private sector employees, in fields such as IT, HR, and marketing. Twenty students completed the inaugural dual degree program. President Choi extended congratulations to the graduates, saying “The first graduation from the dual degree program of 鶹Ӱ and the GSBE is meaningful.”He urged the graduates to “trust themselves and dream big.”Dean Chang Byeong-Yun said, “The Graduate School of International Studies at 鶹Ӱ is where change begins,” adding that he hoped “you graduates will take your learning wherever you go to initiate and lead change.” 鶹Ӱ founded 鶹Ӱ in Tashkent (AUT) in Uzbekistan in February 2021, and provides the new school with curricula and expertise. At present, the 鶹Ӱ undergraduate programs available at AUT are in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Civil Systems Engineering, and Architecture. Graduates of these programs are awarded a degree from 鶹Ӱ. The undergraduate programs offered by AUT itself are in Korean Philology and Management, English Philology and Management, and IT-Business. A project jointly executed by students of 鶹Ӱ and Singapore’s Nanyang Technological University for the development of a barista robot has been successfully completed.A presentation on the achievements of the barista robot project was held at Nanyang Technological University from January 16 to 20. The presentation brought together students from 鶹Ӱ and Nanyang Technological University who completed the joint project, which had been conducted online since September last year.The international industry-academia-research project was conceived by an 鶹Ӱ professor of mechanical engineering in Semester 2 last year who thought it would be a valuable learning experience for the participating students. Six 鶹Ӱ students and five mechanical and aerospace engineering students from Nanyang Technological University formed the project team in September of last year, with the objective of designing an AI robot that uses computer vision technology to make hand drip coffee. The six 鶹Ӱ students who participated in the project were Im So-yeon (digital media), Park Yong-joon (industrial engineering), Park Jun-ha (industrial engineering), Lee Dong-geon (industrial engineering), Kim Young-chan (integrative systems engineering), and Lee Chang-hoon (integrative systems engineering). Integrative Systems Engineering Professor Min Hyeun Jeong directed the students, who were provided with technical support from Cobosys, a robotic and automation solutions company. In the course of designing the barista robot, the 鶹Ӱ and Nanyang Technological University students held weekly online progress meetings on their research of hand drip coffee recipes used by expert baristas, their development of algorithms (water amounts, spiral drip control, etc.) for application of the recipes, and use of 3D cameras and deep learning for object recognition. The barista robot created through the project is able to locate the hand drip set used in coffee making through object recognition and the use of six-axis robot arms with grippers in executing sophisticated movements. The robot intelligently responds to any accident factors in operation to make coffee of a consistently high quality, which it then places in a serving area. A major achievement of the project is the use of computer vision technology in hand dripping automation, an example to be followed in future development of autonomous barista robots. Industrial engineering student Park Yong-joon, one of the participating 鶹Ӱ students, commented, “The project was memorable because it had me working with many others, attending meetings in English, and working with robot arms and AI vision technology, all of which were new experiences for me.” He added, “The lessons I learned though this five-month project will help me with choosing my career path.” Nanyang Technological University is an emerging university in Singapore, a tech education powerhouse that has been referred to as “the MIT of Asia,” having ranked 26th in the world in the 2024 QS World University Rankings and first in the 2023 THE Emerging Economies University Rankings.The project was made possible through the International Industry-Academia-Research Cooperation-based Education Model Development/Operation Support Project of the LINC 3.0 Project in execution by 鶹Ӱ. In the development of global talent, 鶹Ӱ jointly develops and uses learning materials and curricula with the faculty of foreign universities, gives students opportunity to gain experience at foreign universities and companies, and maintains an international network of industry-academia-research collaborators to plan and execute joint education projects. President Choi Kee-choo visited a number of universities in the Western US for meetings on cooperation in education and research. He was accompanied by Kang Shin Goo, Chief of the Office of International Affairs and other members of 鶹Ӱ.From January 4 to 19, the delegation visited the University of California, the University of Southern California, the University of California, Irvine, and three other universities. Meeting with university officials, the delegation outlined the various global programs and research projects 鶹Ӱ is involved in to explore avenues of cooperation.A particular emphasis made during those meetings was on how the US universities might partner up with 鶹Ӱ in research as part of the LAMP (Learning and Academic research institution for master’s and PhD students, and Postdocs) Project of the Korean Ministry of Education. Begun last year, the LAMP Project supports innovative joint research in the basic sciences. The eight participating universities, including 鶹Ӱ, pursue joint innovative research that is theme-based and not restricted by subject or major. A budget of KRW 14.8 billion over the next 5 years has been set for the project.At the University of Southern California, the delegation met with officials from the Mann School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences and discussed the possibility of creating research internship opportunities and summer/winter school programs for students over summer/winter breaks. At the University of California, the delegation visited the UCLA Center for Korean Studies and Dr. Dennis Hong’s Robotics and Mechanisms Laboratory and engaged in discussions on student exchanges and research cooperation. At the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, the delegation held exchanges over research cooperation opportunities in energy and semiconductors, while at the University of California, San Diego, student exchange programs and dual degree programs were discussed. While at this last stop, the delegation met with 鶹Ӱ students there on a student exchange program: Han Yeon-seo (mathematics), Cho Min-jun (electrical and computer engineering), and Lee Hee-jae (French literature), and spent time talking with them about their experiences. At the University of California, Riverside, an MOU was signed for an alliance between its Winston Chung Global Energy Center and 鶹Ӱ’s Energy Systems Project Group, formed and operated for the Korean government’s BK21 Project. At the University of California, Irvine, discussions were held on such topics as research and education exchanges, student exchange programs, and dual degree programs. On the evening of the 4th the delegation had dinner with 鶹Ӱ alumni living and working in Los Angeles and other parts of the Western US. The seven 鶹Ӱ graduates, among them Shim Jae-gwang, an electrical and computer engineering graduate of 1987, are members of the Los Angeles branch of the 鶹Ӱ Alumni Association and are today active in engineering, apparel, real estate, and more. At the dinner, Ajou President Choi Kee-choo informed the alumni on the progress and vision of their alma mater, and discussed in depth plans for expanding the foreign branches of the 鶹Ӱ Alumni Association. On their itinerary, President Choi and his entourage made a stop at CES 2024 held in Las Vegas, where student and faculty entrepreneurs from 鶹Ӱ had their breakthrough offerings on show. On the 9th, President Choi attended a conference on the fostering of startups by 鶹Ӱ and Suwon City alongside Suwon Mayor Lee Jae-Joon and other Suwon City officials. The conference was a gathering of students interested in startups and startup CEOs for discussions on how the university and local community can work together to support startup entrepreneurs. 鶹Ӱ participated in CES 2024, the largest IT and appliance expo in the world, achieving a milestone in industry-academia cooperation on the global stage.Student and faculty entrepreneurs from 鶹Ӱ took part in CES 2024 in Las Vegas, United States, from January 9 to 12, where they showcased new technology. They were accompanied by 12 Ajou student “shadowers.” The international activity was made possible by support lent through 鶹Ӱ’s Global Future Innovation Technology Project, executed as part of the Korean government’s Leaders in Industry-university Cooperation (LINC) 3.0 Project.At CES 2024 鶹Ӱ ran six booths, two of which also conducted investor relations activities. The booths housed AIPS, a student startup, Re-Knet, a startup by a professor, Davinch Q and Cobosys, subsidiaries of 鶹Ӱ’s technology holding company, and InBic and SyncLink, family companies of 鶹Ӱ. InBic and AIPS were the two companies that engaged in investor relations activities at CES 2024. A major achievement by the 鶹Ӱ contingent was the conclusion of an export contract valued at KRW 4 billion. Student startup AIPS (top image) is a deep tech company which develops advanced hardware and software. Cho Young-min, a mechanical engineering student, is one of the CEOs of AIPS, formed in August and now run by a team of five. Neural processing unit (NPU) solutions related to semiconductors and software used in the cloud, autonomous driving, robots, and other intelligent technologies are some of its development focuses. The product AIPS brought to CES 2024 was Skynet, an affordable solution for AI service acceleration. Re-Knet, founded by Ko Young-bae, a professor of software and computer engineering at 鶹Ӱ, develops positioning and navigation services using ultra-wideband technology. To CES 2024 Re-Knet brought Handy UB, a precision indoor tracking service designed for the safety of persons with disabilities, and Navi Neck, a pet wellbeing app which uses augmented reality technology to track location, manage health, and analyze pet behavior. Davinch Q, a subsidiary of 鶹Ӱ’s technology holding company, has since its establishment made progress using patents held by 鶹Ӱ. To CES 2024 the company brought Onesec, a western imaging system for protein detection to compete with western blot protein detection systems in their respective market. Davinch Q is only the second in the world to have developed the technology used by Onesec, which engages in precision measurements without signal strength distortion and is more competitively priced than the western blot protein detection system, an advantage which warrants the production of a protein detection system in Korea.Cobosys, another subsidiary of 鶹Ӱ’s technology holding company, develops robot automation solutions and was founded in 2019 by Park Jaeil, an industrial engineering professor at 鶹Ӱ, and his business partner, Dr. Jang Kyung-hoon. At CES 2024, Cobosys introduced a smart farming robot it had jointly developed with the Korea Institute of Industrial Technology. Cobosys manufactures a range of robot-based automation solutions, among them a “coffeebot” and “chickenbot” designed for automation of the food and beverage industry. At CES 2024 Cobosys concluded an export contract with US company Flamingo Robot, which will involve Cobosys supplying 100 coffeebots, worth around KRW 4 billion. InBic and SyncLink, both family companies of 鶹Ӱ, introduced a real-time AI nighttime image conversion solution and a ring-type wireless mouse with healthcare features ("Smart Ring"), respectively, at CES 2024.The 鶹Ӱ delegation to CES 2024 was accompanied by 12 鶹Ӱ students who are aspiring entrepreneurs themselves. These student shadowers made it to CES 2024 with support from 鶹Ӱ, and then spent time visiting Stanford University and a number of other institutes of higher learning, as well as Silicon Valley companies.Together with Suwon City, 鶹Ӱ hosted a conference on supporting startups to coincide with CES 2024. A group of 12 Korean language and literature students from 鶹Ӱ spent five days in Hanoi, Vietnam, as part of an overseas experience program, itself part of 鶹Ӱ’s organized efforts to deliver innovative education through its established departments. The student group stayed in Hanoi, Vietnam, from January 15 to 19, visiting Vietnam National University Hanoi and Thang Long University, sister universities to 鶹Ӱ, to meet with students there, and enjoying a range of cultural experiences. The student group was accompanied by Professors Lee Sang-shin and Lee Geonhee.Besides visits to these sister universities, the 鶹Ӱ students also attended lectures on culture, went on day trips—including one to a Korean company operating locally—and engaged in research to go toward the completion of team assignments. A group of 10 "buddies,” Thang Long University students, accompanied the 鶹Ӱ student group on their itinerary. Planning for the overseas experience program reflected student ideas for activities. The team assignments the students completed during their stay in Vietnam were a study on ways to effectively export modern Korean literature to Vietnam, a study of different aspects of literature influenced by the Vietnam War based on an understanding of that conflict, an analysis of the popularity of Korean webtoons in Vietnam and ways to promote cultural exchanges between Korea and Vietnam, and a study of what Korean language education in Vietnam looks like. The students visited Segyung Hitech, a Korean company operating in Vietnam, and spent time with staff learning about business in country, the local job market, and how Korean businesses and Korean culture are perceived by the locals. An opportunity for 鶹Ӱ students to experience foreign culture, the program brought students of 鶹Ӱ and its sister universities in Vietnam together for a bonding experience. As students of Korean language and literature, the visiting students got to experience firsthand and reflect on how Korean culture and language are received in the foreign locales they reach. The overseas experience program was part of the Department of Korean Language and Literature’s organized efforts to deliver innovative education. Officially known as the “Project for the Development of Innovative Education Departments” and in execution 鶹Ӱ-wide, the efforts began in 2023 and will continue until the end of 2025. The goal of the project is to support the departments at 鶹Ӱ in achieving the kind of educational innovation that sets an example to be followed. The inaugural AUT International Winter School program was held at 鶹Ӱ in Tashkent (AUT) for students on break over the winter. The program took place in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, where AUT is located, from January 8 to 12. An opportunity for 鶹Ӱ students to experience foreign culture, the program brought students of 鶹Ӱ and AUT together for a bonding experience. Students who completed the program received one credit. Fifty-eight students from 16 departments at 鶹Ӱ, including the Department of Culture and Contents, the Department of Political Science and Diplomacy, and the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, completed the program. The group of students was led by Kim Yong Hyun, Dean of the College of Humanities and Kim Jong Sik, Dean of the Division of International Studies. Over their five-day stay at AUT the students attended lectures on culture, took field trips to tourist sites, companies, and institutions, completed team assignments, and spent time with their AUT buddies. Such activities were planned in reflection of ideas submitted by the students who participated in the program. Fifteen AUT students accompanied the group of 鶹Ӱ students around Tashkent as “buddies.”Among the assignments the students undertook as part of the program were to suggest ways to reduce irrigation loss in farming to address Uzbekistan’s water shortages, to suggest designs for center bus lanes on Tashkent roads using road and traffic examples in Korea to improve Tashkent's public transport system, and to engage in comparative analysis of the lifestyles of Koreans in Korea and ethnic Koreans in Uzbekistan. A hub for trade via the Silk Road in antiquity, the visiting student group had the opportunity to engage in a valuable experience with Tashkent’s Central Asian history and culture. The students visited a number of Korean entities operating in Uzbekistan such as KT, the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency, and the Korea International Cooperation Agency, as well as UNICEF, where they spent time interacting with staff to understand the organizations’ visions for Uzbekistan and the progress they have made. Jung Ga-young, a history major and one of the participating students, commented “The program and our AUT buddies gave us cool experiences in Uzbekistan,” and “What we learned in Uzbekistan will help us complete a team assignment to come up with ideas on ways to export Korean beauty and cosmetic products.”The 2024 AUT International Winter School, organized by the AUT Business Group and International Exchanges Team, was a sibling to the 2023 Ajou International Summer School, which took place at 鶹Ӱ over two weeks the previous summer, bringing to 鶹Ӱ 26 students from sister universities around the world and 20 AUT students for Korean language training and tourism. Founded by 鶹Ӱ in February 2021, AUT offers both its own curriculum and curricula from 鶹Ӱ. Its next group of graduates will finish their programs this coming June. AUT currently has 1,516 students registered.The 鶹Ӱ undergraduate programs available at AUT are in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Civil Systems Engineering, and Architecture. Conferred on AUT graduates of these disciplines is a degree issued by 鶹Ӱ. The Graduate School of Information and Communication Technology at 鶹Ӱ will be participating in the Korea International Cooperation Agency’s Indonesian Cyber Security Expert Training Capacity Development Program, set to be executed over two years until 2026 on a budget of KRW 3.7 billion.The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) is undertaking the project to help Indonesia advance its vocational training in the area of cyber security and grow competitively in related areas. Participants in the program will develop curricula and content, provide training to teaching personnel, and create an integrated platform for education and professional development.鶹Ӱ has formed a consortium with Dudu IT, a Korean cyber security company, to contribute to the program. The team from 鶹Ӱ set to participate in the program comprises professors and doctoral students in the Department of Cyber Space and the Department of Software and Computer Engineering.The immediate objective of the program is to apply information and communications technology to the creation of a system for education and professional development of Indonesia’s cyber security experts to improve that nation’s capability to respond to cyber security risks. The long-term benefit Indonesia will enjoy from success of the program is improved industrial competitiveness both at home and abroad.KOICA and the program participants, including 鶹Ӱ, will be working with polytechnic universities operated in Bogor, West Java, by Indonesia’s National Cyber and Crypto Agency. The polytechnic universities will develop effective systems and curricula, and become able to provide theoretical and practical training in both online and physical environments. Other aspects of the program include systematic support of professional development of cyber security personnel in a variety of fields and the installation of new facilities for cyber security vocational training.

Two research teams from 鶹Ӱ have been selected for the fourth leg of the BK21 Project (Brain Korea 21: Fostering Outstanding Universities for Research), a national project which produces graduates of postgraduate studies who will go on to play a role in the Fourth Industrial Revolution, the response to the changing population structure, and other important areas.One selected research team is from 鶹Ӱ’s Department of Mathematics and one from its Department of Pharmacy. The “Ajou Future Mathematical Scientist Education and Research Team” is led by Professor Choi Soo-young and aims to develop data-based mathematical scientists. The Department of Mathematics at 鶹Ӱ has successfully operated curricula in basic and industrial mathematics, and supports its students in gaining practical experience through education structured as projects that are completed in partnership with businesses and other industrial entities. The “Education and Research Team for the Development of Future Developers of Innovative New Drugs for Barriome Control” is led by Professor Chang Sun-Young and aims to understand the role of barriome in disease occurrence and create a platform for the development of new drugs based on the understanding obtained. Ultimately, it will develop groundbreaking new drugs that regulate barriome. In support of its goal it will train scientists through specialized and convergence curriculums.The two research teams will engage in the fourth leg of the BK21 Project until August 2027. This latest selection will see 鶹Ӱ contribute to this leg of the BK21 Project through five research groups and two research teams. Four of the five research groups were formed in August 2020: the “Chem-bio-medicine Education and Research Group” from the Department of Molecular Science and Technology (Professor Kim Yong-Sung), the “Carbon-zero Renewable Energy System Project Group” from the Department of Energy Systems (Professor Jang Hye-Young), the “Ajou Dream AI Innovator Development Group” from the Department of Software and Computer Engineering (Professor Sohn Kyung-Ah) and the “Next-generation Super-intelligent Network Convergence Education and Research Group” from the Department of Software and Computer Engineering (Professor Ko Young-Bae). The last of the five research groups, formed in May this year, is the “Intelligent Semiconductor Sensor Star Innovator Education and Research Group” from the Department of Intelligent Semiconductor Engineering (Heo Junseok).The BK21 Project commenced in 1999 and is executed in seven-year legs. It is currently in the fourth iteration. Groups participating in the fourth leg of the BK21 Project will receive funding for seven years, until August 2027. A budget of KRW 3.2 trillion has been set aside for the enterprise, with KRW 526.1 billion of it allotted in 2023.

鶹Ӱ has been selected for the Ministry of Education’s LAMP Project and is set to receive KRW 14.8 billion in funding over 5 years. “LAMP” stands for “Learning and Academic research institution for master’s and PhD students, and Postdocs,” and the LAMP Project was greenlit by the Ministry of Education just this year to promote groundbreaking joint research in the basic sciences. A joint endeavor of the Ministry of Education and the National Research Foundation of Korea, the LAMP Project has so far added eight universities to its roster. 鶹Ӱ and Seoul National University were selected in the Seoul region, and Kangwon National University, Kyungpook National University, Pusan National University, Pukyong National University, Gyeongsang National University, and Chosun University were selected from the provinces. The participating universities will each select one of the 10 basic sciences and pursue innovative joint research that is theme-based and not restricted by subject or major. Over each of the five years, the Ministry of Education and the National Research Foundation of Korea will provide annual funding of around KRW 3 billion. The participating universities will manage and support research activities and infrastructure internally, and run “focused theme research centers” where large joint research projects will take place. Full-time professors and postdoctoral researchers are among the research personnel to be recruited for the endeavor. 鶹Ӱ will contribute to the LAMP Project through research in materials and energy science. The Institute of NT-IT Fusion Technology at 鶹Ӱ, hitherto active in this area of research, will be reformed and expanded into the Institute of Next-generation Energy Science by way of the focused theme research center envisioned by the LAMP Project. 鶹Ӱ has put together a postdoctoral research team of 20 for the LAMP Project, 14 of whom will serve full-time, to lead large joint research activities defined by important themes.鶹Ӱ has placed Ahn Byungmin, Chief of the Office of Research Information, as Chief of the LAMP Project Group. Commenting on the task at hand, Ahn stated, “鶹Ӱ’s organization and systems for research will receive attention to enable capable new researchers to work to their full potential and provide them with support that combines 鶹Ӱ’s human and material resources.” He added, “鶹Ӱ will do its best to produce, through the LAMP Project, research achievements of future value.”

The Graduate School of International Studies at 鶹Ӱ has held an international symposium themed as “Civil Society in Asia.” Held in the Media Conference Room in the Yulgok Building on the 8th, the symposium rallied students of the Graduate School of International Studies for presentations and discussions. The academic event opened with an address by Chang Byeong-Yun, Dean of the Graduate School of International Studies. The first presentation was given by Ochgerel Tsedenbal, a civil sociology student, on “Developing Volunteerism in Mongolia: Policy Recommendations and Strategic Analysis.” The second presentation was given by Abigail Amon, also a civil sociology student, on “Aspirations and Sustainability of Youth HIV Civil Society Organizations in the Philippines.”The third and last presentation was given by Ram Pravir Kumar, another civil sociology student, on “The Role of Civil Society in Consolidating Democracies in India and the Republic of Korea, 1991-2021: A Case Study.”The presentations were followed by student discussions involving a panel made up of students McKenzie Antonette Gooding, Annie Favour Chioma, Kevin Orlando Roa Gomez, and Veronika Basiuk engaged in Q&A and discussions with the students that had given the presentations. The discussions were moderated by Kang Shin Goo, Professor of Political Science at the Graduate School of International Studies.Since the first Ajou GSIS International Symposium was held in 1997, the Graduate School of International Studies has continued the tradition every year as an opportunity for international students to share insights that can help with their studies and personal and academic growth.Established in 1996, the Graduate School of International Studies at 鶹Ӱ has produced around 1,300 graduates to date. The graduates, from 77 countries, are today active in their respective fields around the world. The Graduate School of International Studies at 鶹Ӱ currently offers programs in International Business, International Trade, International Development and Cooperation, NGO Studies, Energy Studies, and Civil Society Studies.

The first group of international students to complete the Big Data Specialist (BDS) program at the Graduate School of Information and Communication Technology at 鶹Ӱ has graduated. Ajou’s BDS program was created in 2022 to educate international students in both IT and business management. Students who undertake the BDS program gain an understanding of the latest IT trends and proficiencies that span IT and business administration.[KH1]A graduation ceremony was held in the Paldal Building on the 12th. In attendance were the 11 graduates and some 50 current BDS students, who were joined by Dean Yeh Hong Jin, Associate Dean Chung Tae-Sun, and Honorary Professor Kim Minkoo of the Graduate School of Information and Communication Technology, among others. Spread over three semesters, the BDS program includes data analysis and machine learning as essential components, while social analytics, HR analytics, big data and business management, and other learning components that combine IT and business administration education can be chosen at individual students’ discretion. The BDS curriculum is friendly even for those who have not previously studied IT or computer science. The Graduate School of Information and Communication Technology welcomed the first 11 students to its BDS program in the second semester of 2022, and a further 55 in 2023. Graduates of the BDS program go on to doctoral studies or embark on a promising career as big data specialists. Established in 1998, the Graduate School of Information and Communication Technology at 鶹Ӱ is a specialized education provider for professionals and military personnel that has to date produced over 2,900 graduates. In addition to the BDS program, the Graduate School of Information and Communication Technology offers programs in cyber security, cyber security and C4I (command, control, communication, and intelligence), information communication, information communication and C4I, intelligent software, Internet of Things, and C4ISR (C4I surveillance and reconnaissance).

The Inter-American Development Bank (IADB) has nominated the Graduate School of International Studies at 鶹Ӱ to provide a master’s program to state officials from Latin American and Caribbean countries starting next year. The IADB currently operates the Korea-LAC (Latin America/Caribbean) Tech Corps Program, which promotes technical cooperation and personnel exchanges between Korea and Latin America through degree programs in information and communications technology (ICT) and public administration offered at Korean universities, and Korean ICT expert (37 years of age or younger) participation in innovation projects taking place in Latin America. The Graduate School of International Studies at 鶹Ӱ is now one of those participating Korean universities. Middle managers with Latin American and Caribbean governments will receive education at 鶹Ӱ on scholarships provided by the IADB and 鶹Ӱ.Starting next year, up to 26 such government officials will be selected by 鶹Ӱ to complete an 18-month master’s program in public innovative ICT management. Graduates of the program will receive a joint master’s degree in public administration and business administration. Established in 1959, the IADB is the largest financial backer of regional development in the Americas. Among its roles are financing and technical cooperation for economic and social development of Latin America and the Caribbean. It is headquartered in Washington D.C. and has offices in 26 Latin American countries.
